The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for building and implementing a comprehensive business plan to optimize the commercial potential of CNL’s research and capabilities. Working closely with the VP Science & Technology, the Vice President of Business Development will both drive and oversee the proactive identification of appropriate market opportunities to move ideas into commercial ventures. The Vice President of Business Development will need to work with others to facilitate idea generation, test and analyze the commercial viability of CNL research and capabilities, develop relationships with venture partners and secure investment funding that is suitable to CNL’s governance model, and negotiate value sharing agreements that take a view of economic prosperity for Canada. They key challenge is in finding the right opportunities that contribute to building new business and advancing research that is beneficial to Canada but not detrimental or competitive to Canadian private businesses. Responsibilities ~Define business development markets, company's position in the respective market(s) and market potential. ~Develop, coordinate and execute plans that involve the development of new work from existing contracts. Work with operational personnel to implement these objectives. ~Develop division business development strategies and approaches. Work within and across divisional lines to achieve business development objectives. ~Assist in the development of business development (BD) and bid and proposal (B&P) budget(s). ~Analyze and assess competing organizations and develop approaches and strategies to strengthen the Company's competitive position. ~Facilitate, coordinate and/or arrange strategic hires, teaming agreements and strategic alliances. Assist in proposal efforts and reviews. ~Interface with personnel within the division, the company, other organizations and customers and others in the community. Bachelor's degree in related field and at least 18+ years of job-related experience or equivalent, or 15+ years of relevant experience with Masters degree 10+ years of managerial experience. Excellent communication skills; interpersonal; organizational and analytical skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications are required.
