In this position you will be reporting directly to Quality Lead - Assembly and
will be responsible for manufacturing quality readiness of the Welland facility.
You will support quality processes related to the manufacturing of new units and
collaborate cross-functionally within the Waukesha business unit. You will
utilize and expand your understanding of quality theories, analytical practices,
continuous improvement concepts, and coordination principles in all parts of the
manufacturing function pertaining to Product Quality. You will provide technical
guidance, conduct investigative analysis, and leverage interdisciplinary inputs
to deliver a high-quality product to our customers while ensuring adherence to
internal quality procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Planning and execution of all Quality Assurance activities to
ensure produced products comply and conform to all regulatory, QMS,
customer, and Engineering requirements.
* Oversee and assume primary ownership of quality processes and detected
nonconformances originating from assigned product lines and/or manufacturing
processes.
* Collaborate with other members of the Production Quality team to jointly
manage MRB process related activities as it relates to your assigned product
lines and/or manufacturing processes (or as needed/instructed).
* Apply critical Quality concepts to support, advise, report,
and/or develop corrective and preventative actions for encountered concerns,
nonconformances, and assignments.
* Responsible for driving improvements for primary quality metrics related
to business Quality Objectives and resulting KPIs.
* Coordinate and/or execute containment, sorting, rework/repair,
concession activities for external and internal issues.
* Participate and/or coordinate root cause analysis
techniques for investigation activities stemming from nonconformance
investigations (8D, DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why, fishbone etc.).
* Support the “Zero Defect” plan and participate in
continuous improvements initiatives.
* Monitor for and analyze trends in nonconformance data or recurring issues.
* Drive for complete issue resolution by ensuring thoroughness of all
prerequisite investigation closure conditions.
* Evaluate products, services, and procedural conformance as it relates
to specification compliance, customer requirements, and QMS adherence.
* Expand one’s own and advocate a continuous improvement and customer
focus mindset.
* Navigate various internal electronic systems, databases, and programs to
compile, report, and/or ascertain factual data needed for decision making or
problem solving.
* Utilize numerous precision measurement equipment and apply metrological
concepts to measure, gage, or inspect a vast range of products, components,
or assemblies for conformity.
* Collect and compile needed standardized details/data to generate
and convey nonconformance reports to other cross-functional areas
(i.e. product engineering, supplier quality, etc.)
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5+ years of relevant
experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of
relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant
experience is required.
* University degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
* Fluent ability to interpret technical engineering drawings and GD&T
principles, and conduct calculations as needed.
* Experience in internal combustion engine assembly, testing, and/or design be
considered an asset.
* Related work quality experience in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace or
Automotive would be an asset).
* ASQ "Certified Quality Engineer" or “Certified Quality
Technician” certification an asset.
* Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and
quality problem solving principals (8D, DMAIC, etc.)
* Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical
abilities.
* Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment.
* Flexible to work in shifts.
