Why You’ll Love This Role Lumentum is seeking to hire a Process Automation Software Engineer (Co-op Student) for our Ottawa based team. The position requires an on-site presence. We can accommodate four, eight, or twelve-month co-op terms. 4 months: September 2025 to December 2025 8 months: September 2025 to April 2026 12 months: September 2025 to August 2026 What You’ll Be Doing Lumentum is seeking a co-op student/intern for our MOEMS Test team. You’ll work closely with MEMS designers, test engineers, and IT to automate Lumentum’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes. You will: Develop hardware drivers for new instrumentation and test equipment using C#. Develop cloud-based data management solutions using python and Google Cloud Platforms. Run manufacturing tests to characterize and validate new products. Analyze test data to identify patterns and root-causes of failures. Solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams. Receive leadership and communication training from senior staff. What We’re Looking For Recommended Education: 3rd/4th year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent. Skills: To be successful at Lumentum, you will need excellent communication and problem-solving skills. We value generalists who attack problems from first principles. You will have: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The desire to succeed and to do things right the first time. The ability to master new skills and apply new tools to old problems. Experience in algorithms and data structures and object-oriented programming.
