JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Technical Services Technician II Department: Lifecycle Reports To: Technical Services Manager Status: Non-Exempt Date Issued: July 2025 Summary: The Lifecycle Technical Services Technician II position builds on foundational skills to service a diverse range of water treatment technologies, including midrange electrical rotating equipment, such as aeration mixers water softening systems. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to apply intermediate technical expertise, including both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, while mentoring junior technicians. This position is ideal for professionals eager to grow their technical and leadership skills in a high-impact field, focusing on independent problem-solving and customer success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform all Lifecycle Technical Services Technician I duties, including startup, commissioning, customer training, and troubleshooting for non-electrical water treatment systems. Provide startup, commissioning, customer training, and troubleshooting for midrange electrical rotating equipment, such as aeration mixers, ensuring reliable system performance. Conduct startup, commissioning, and seeding for advanced membrane-based systems like MBR and RO (excluding process-specific training and troubleshooting). Support retrofits across various water treatment systems, enhancing equipment functionality and longevity. Participate in handoff meetings with Project Managers, Contractors, and End Users to communicate prerequisites for site readiness, ensuring project alignment. Use CRM and SharePoint tools to track root cause analysis and document service activities accurately, driving operational improvements. Diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical issues in assigned systems, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance. Diagnose and resolve moderate mechanical and electrical PLC Panel troubleshooting to maintain system reliability. Coordinate travel schedules, customer communications, and onsite service visits independently, delivering exceptional service experiences. Monitor operational parameters of treatment systems and provide actionable feedback to management to enhance system efficiency. Mentor Level I technicians, fostering their skill development and contributing to a collaborative team environment. Adhere to Newterra and customer safety policies during all field operations, championing a culture of safety. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and detailed service records and images in SharePoint to support data-driven decision-making. Identify and propose opportunities for operational or service improvements to enhance customer outcomes. Support Sales by communicating opportunities for additional services or upgrades, contributing to business growth. Approach your work with a proactive mindset, taking ownership of servicing non-electrical water treatment systems (e.g., Aquip, Purus, Retnu, Media Exchange) and midrange electrical rotating equipment (e.g., Pressure Vessels, Deaerators, Remediation, EPRO, Tritons, Aspirators, Splashers). Strive for excellence in troubleshooting and customer interactions, ensuring systems operate reliably while building strong client relationships. Mentoring Level I Technicians with patience and enthusiasm and sharing your knowledge to strengthen the team. Commit to thorough documentation, proactive communication during handoff meetings, and adherence to safety standards is essential. Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. Complies with Quality Management Systems in accordance with Newterra’s internal quality standards. Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience servicing at least one water treatment technology with midrange electrical components, such as aeration mixers. Basic understanding of electrical drawings and P&IDs. Familiarity with 4-20mA instrumentation and scaling. Highly recommended: Experience troubleshooting VFDs (e.g., Schneider, Danfoss, Allen-Bradley) and instrumentation such as level transducers, flow meters, pH probes, or DO probes. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel. Strong record-keeping skills and experience with CRM systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Intermediate knowledge of water treatment processes and midrange electrical systems, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions. Proficiency in mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, including 4-20mA signals, to ensure system reliability. Highly recommended: Familiarity with troubleshooting VFDs (e.g., Schneider, Danfoss, Allen-Bradley) and instrumentation like level transducers, flow meters, pH probes, or DO probes to enhance system performance. Strong customer service and communication skills to build trust and drive client satisfaction. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, balancing technical and customer-facing responsibilities. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Detail-oriented with advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills to tackle complex challenges. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time to support diverse customer needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to use both hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stand for long periods of time and repeat the same motions. Must also be able to push, pull and maneuver up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Frequently work outdoors. This is a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to elements such as loud noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dirt, dust, fumes, and other hazardous materials. Often wear PPE, such as safety goggles, masks, or ear plugs. Frequently exposed to distracting and uncomfortable noise levels from machinery. May be exposed to hazardous situations when working with large metal parts and cutting tools. Company safety standards must be always followed.
