Training and Development Lead
Location(s): Hybrid – virtual home office, monthly travel to Vancouver head office, on-site work as required
Reporting to: Director of Operations, with a dotted line to VP, HR
Duration: 18-month assignment
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Training and Development Lead for an 18-month assignment. This hybrid role is operationally embedded, reporting directly to the Director of Operations to ensure training programs are targeted, practical, and fully aligned to field and business needs.
The role also maintains a dotted-line relationship with the VP, Human Resources, ensuring training, facilitation practices, and talent development approaches are consistent with RLG’s people strategy and best practices. This dual connection ensures operational training delivers measurable results while reinforcing RLG’s culture and capability standards.
The position will focus primarily on delivering operations-focused training and onboarding, supplemented with short-term field assignments as required. This is a valuable opportunity to broaden your skills, visibility, and network within RLG, with the expectation of returning to a fully operations-based role following the assignment.
Creating an Exceptional New Hire Experience
The Training and Development Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping the onboarding experience and early development of new hires at RLG. This role goes beyond the mere delivery of training programs; it encompasses the stewardship of new hires as they transition into their roles within the organization, ensuring they are equipped, engaged and integrated into the RLG way of working.
Key aspects will include:
Building Relationships: Establishing strong, positive relationships with new hires to create a sense of belonging and community within RLG.
Ongoing Support: Offering ongoing guidance and support to new hires beyond the initial training period to accelerate readiness.
Facilitating Integration: Helping new hires understand and adapt to RLG's tools, processes, and culture for a smooth transition into client projects.
Feedback and Development: Delivering clear, regular, constructive feedback to aid in their professional development and ensure they are set up for success.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal full-time employee candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience as a Coach or Team Lead at RLG, with a demonstrated history of delivering results across multiple industries. They are passionate about developing others, skilled in delivering engaging training, and confident in providing clear, actionable feedback to peers and leaders. A strong understanding of RLG tools and processes is essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. The successful candidate must also be flexible and mobile, with the ability to conduct both virtual and in-person training sessions in various locations and across time zones, along with delivery of on-site short-term project work as may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Training Design, Delivery, and Oversight (Primary Focus)
Lead the design, delivery, and coordination of RLG’s global training programs, aligned with strategic business priorities, operations requirements and capability needs.
Deliver and enhance core training curricula, including New Hire Training and onboarding programs, Coaching with an Edge, Lead Training, Strategic Selling, and Global Best Practice Calls.
Monitor progress and readiness of new hires, managing them through onboarding until project placement, and supporting their successful integration.
2. Operations & Billable Project Support
Deliver on client-related requests as assigned, including assessments, capability-building sessions, or short-term project support.
Influence and support initiatives in skill and career development, mentoring, readiness programs, and workforce movement and project assignments.
3. Knowledge Management
Champion continuous improvement and internal knowledge sharing through the RLG Hub, ensuring it remains a best-in-class resource for training, operational tools.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to keep content accurate, relevant, and aligned with evolving business needs.
Lead the revamp of the Leadership Capability section of the RLG Hub.
4. HR Partnership & Talent Development (Secondary Focus)
Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition and the Leadership team to ensure training delivery and methodology aligns with RLG’s talent development strategy.
Provide input, insight and recommendations by leveraging performance data, competency assessments, goals, and feedback—captured in BambooHR, our HRIS system—to drive talent development and inform broader people strategies.
Support select HR projects and initiatives related to performance management as requested by the VP HR.
