Regular Full Time
Replacement
Summary of duties but not limited to:
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide pre & post-operative care (Phase 1 and 2) to ambulatory surgical patients
• Provide assessment and care of the patient’s airway, hemodynamic status, pain and nausea management
• Facilitates the patient’s physical & psychological preparation for surgery & discharge
• Ensures a smooth progression of the patient through the peri-operative phases with strong assessment & critical thinking skills
• Provide extensive pre and post-operative health education, teaching and support to patients & their families, including telephone/video follow-up calls and in person visits in Pre-Admission Clinic
• Participation in education activities to advance and maintain competency in care of pre and post-operative patients
• Rotating work in other areas of the Pre-Admission Clinic
As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications
Bachelors in Nursing is required
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses
Recent experience in either Post Anesthesia Care, Emergency Room, or Critical Care setting required
Current BCLS and ACLS certification required
Critical Care or PACU course required
Venipuncture, IV insertion, arterial lines & ECG (basic interpretation) certification required
Health Assessment & Ambulatory Surgical Nursing course preferred
Pre and post anesthesia care, surgical experience in an ambulatory setting preferred
Excellent computer skills
Must have excellent organizational, assessment, communication & teaching skills
Work effectively as a strong team player
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, professional growth and maintenance of clinical competency is required
Membership in OPANA is an asset
Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
