The Manager, Finance will oversee the financial operations across multiple entities and will lead financial functions, compliance, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring astrong background in accounting, tax, analysis,and internal controls.

The Finance Manager is a trusted advisor to our internal partners and is the subject matter expert who offers guidance, support and expertise. Your ability to foster excellent relationships will work to harmonize accounting best practices, risk mitigation and compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manages the financial reporting process and reviews financials monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness on a cost centre and consolidated basis.
- Researches, advises, and recommends on complex accounting transactions and contracts to stay abreast of new accounting standards and regulatory changes.
- Assists in preparing materials for the Finance and Audit Committee
- Engages directly with external and internal auditors to coordinate the audit process.
- Provides tax advisory and compliance requirements, including commodity tax, corporate tax, and Not for Profit information returns.
- Implements and monitors compliance with various policies and procedures by reviewing and updating financial control process narratives and finance policies annually.
- Ensures financerelated reporting requirements regarding Ornge’s Performance Agreement are met and provides ad-hoc and recommendations to senior management.
- Conducts research on industry-specificbest practices for financial analysis and engages with financial planning and analysis team for proper budget classification.
- Drives process improvements through the identification of opportunities to automate and leverage technologies.
- Leads ad-hoc projects and cross-functional teams, assesses financial terms and prospects.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a dynamic team of approximately 11 finance professionals, including 5 analysts and 6 AP/AR staff, fostering collaboration and driving performance.
- Ensures financial reporting and tax filings adhere to appropriate frameworks andwill navigate complex regulatory landscapesto stay updated on evolving standards.
- Coaching, mentoring and establishingopportunities for staff for learning and development.
- Plans and coordinates the year-end external financial audit, along with other statutory or Ministry audits involving auditors and finance staff.
- Plans and coordinates the preparation of several Ministry reports and inquiries.
- Identifies control deficiencies around finance and recommends possible actions for resolutions; independently interprets legislation/regulatory requirements/environmental changes impacting finance operations to assess and recommends best resolutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a recognized and accredited educational institution.
- Chartered Accountant or Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario).
- A minimum of 5-6 years of applicable experience in a similar position.
- Experience within a Big 4 accounting firm is considered an asset.
- Experience with external and internal auditing, financial reporting and internal controls.
- Research experience with PSAS, ASPE, IFRS and taxation.
- SAP experience is considered an asset.
