Description
The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Registered Nurse. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 5 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Other working conditions may involve field work and irregular hours, such as weekend and evening work.
Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the PEMRAP program, specifically to oversee the training of PEMRAP students
- Provide vision for the current and future role and function of PEMRAP
- Supervise the PEMRAP administrator to ensure and efficient coordinated intake process and handle inquiries/concerns
- Participate in the selection of new PEMRAP student members (volunteers)
- Oversee/Approve PEMRAP Scheduling
- Coordinate/Plan PEMRAP Orientation sessions
- Train PEMRAP student members
- Collaborate with Study Primary Investigators, Coordinators, Nurses, Students regarding PEMRAP daily operations in the Emergency Department
- Provide PEMRAP student support in the form of constructive feedback, identification of those requiring further support, letters of recommendation
- Liase with Emergency Department clinical staff regarding PEMRAP matters
- Participate in the Research Steering Committee meetings
- May be asked to perform nursing tasks related to research projects such as interventional trials or studies that have a mixed profile or PEMRAP and nursing involvement. These could include taking samples and providing study medications
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree required
- Nursing Degree required and current RN license
- 3-5 years of work experience is preferred
- 1-2 years in a supervisory position is preferred
- Experience in a clinical setting or a clinical research program setting preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire and build confidence in others to achieve common goals
- Proven ability to work independently, to set own priorities and deadlines, and to be accountable for delivery of service
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and research-specific databases, specifically Word, Excel, and RedCAP
