Role: On-call Substitute ESL Teacher
Reports to: Director of Studies
Location: Vancouver, BC (in-person classes)
Description:
ILSC-Vancouver is seeking qualified and dynamic ESL Teachers available for on-call substitute teaching, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:15pm, Monday through Friday.
Successful candidates will be comfortable teaching a diverse range of adult English Language programs and courses in a hybrid classroom setting (in-person with simulcasting). A TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institution is required for this position.
Job Duties:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaches lesson(s) prepared by the classroom teacher utilizing various materials and technologies as required.
- Leaves details for the teacher when finished covering the class to support a smooth transition back to the classroom teacher.
- Maintains current and accurate class records.
- Enters attendance records into computerized database daily.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:

Bachelor's degree from a recognised university

TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institute is required

Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English

Demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including:
-
Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Excel

Zoom and Teams in a classroom setting

Online and hybrid teaching experience preferred

Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff, who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
