The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories' (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Located in Yellowknife, reporting to the Director, you would be responsible to coordinate the technical expert on asset management and maintenance of bulk fuel delivery trucks owned by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). The position is responsible for the administration, training, planning, scheduling, and managing of all maintenance work through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Fuel Services is an essential service that administers the Petroleum Products Program for the GNWT. They are responsible for managing the purchase, transportation, and storage of bulk petroleum products for 16 NWT communities that are not serviced by the private sector, including the maintenance and replacement of fuel storage facilities, managing the regulatory and environmental requirements, and for quality assurance. Fuel is transported to the communities via tug and barge through Marine Transportation Services and by commercial haulers via all season road and winter road where it is unloaded to the fuel storage facilities by Fuel Services. Once in the community, local contractors sell and distribute these petroleum products to residents and businesses in their communities under contracts managed by Fuel Services.
Fuel Services also manages the purchase, transportation and storage of diesel fuel in 21 communities on behalf of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC). FSD manages the inventory of fuel and ensures safe operation and maintenance of the fuel storage facilities at NTPC power plants.
- Develop, revise, and oversee implementation of policies procedures and standards for the operation and maintenance of GNWT bulk fuel facilities and assets.
- Plan, prepare, implement and monitor progress of annual work plans, including budgets and scheduling.
- Provide analysis and reporting of work plans and support the development of capital plans and revolving fund cost recovery.
- Knowledge of bulk fuel storage facilities and assets.
- Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a high-pressure work environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan and schedule work tasks and produce quality results with little guidance or assistance.
Typically attained by: Completion of a diploma in maintenance management.
Equivalencies: Certificate in maintenance management and one year of experience
