Role: Communication in Healthcare (CIHC) Instructor

Dates: July 7 to July 25th 2025 (3 weeks)

Greystone College - Toronto is seeking qualified and dynamic CIHC instructors to teach a group of international students studying Canadian healthcare concepts and language two-to-three mornings per week from July 7 to July 25th 2025. Candidates will alternate days with another instructor (8.30 am - 1.00 pm) Monday to Friday. The role may also include overseeing occasional after-class activities such as guest speaker visits and field trips. The specific days per week are negotiable depending on the availability and schedules of the two candidates.
Successful candidates will be teaching selected health care communication competencies involving anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology in the four language skills as well as functional skills for common interactions with patients and health care professionals. Instructors prepare lessons designed to increase students' professional communicative readiness appropriate to a broad range of situations and needs in accordance with the Greystone College Curriculum Guidelines and Course Outlines. High quality delivery is expected.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- eliciting students' interests and communicative needs in an organized way
- assessing students professional needs and planning lessons in accords with Greystone College Course Curriculum for the level being taught
- selecting appropriate materials and resources (including Greystone College online resources)
- using materials effectively via our Moodle LMS platform
- creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation and leadership
- evaluating progress (ongoing) and conferring with students individually according to the specifics outlined in the course objectives
- teaching lessons utilizing various materials and technologies as required, including case-studies and reflection exercises on guest speakers and field trips to clinics, schools and hospitals
- maintaining current and accurate class records, including daily attendance records into Moodle LMS
- other related duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
A successful candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Canadian healthcare system background (RN/RPN registration with CNO is an asset)
- a completed Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university
- TESL certification recognized by Languages Canada (or equivalent, e.g. CELTA) is an asset
- previous teaching experience either in Canada or overseas
- ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English
- demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Excel), Moodle LMS
- demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision
