The Research Centre in the Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 2 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Research Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and administration of this research project. The role will support data collection and analysis, including working with interactive mapping software, websites, and assist the PI with developing written reports and knowledge translation activities. The incumbent will liaise with various community partners to support relationship building and collaborative research, including museums and galleries.
The Research Coordinator reports directly to the Principal Investigator on a community-based project focused on sensory storytelling and disabled Canadians.The role involves periods of high activity and requires the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.This is a recurring part-time position. Recurring Part-time employees are hourly appointments engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Coordinate and submit research ethics applications; track approvals and coordinate updates.
- Manage employee expense claims, project expenses, and participant honorariums.
- Prepare and provide accurate financial records of project budget.
- Coordinate online and in person meetings across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate and support the development of interactive maps (e.g. soundmaps, maphub) with other software (e.g. soundclouds or other online audio distribution platforms).
- Update website (e.g. Wix).
- Liaise with community groups to support recruitment and communication of research collaboration.
- Assist with communication and engagement activities involving community partners, and advisory boards, museums and galleries.
- Draft and prepare correspondence, reports, and data tracking tools. Organize and attend team meetings. Includes but not limited to creating meeting agenda, capturing minutes, sending calendar invitations.
- Ensure that all project coordination activities consider accessibility and inclusivity for scholars guests, and participants of the Studio.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Certificate or diploma in administration, communications, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of project or research coordination experience, preferably within a post-secondary or research environment.
- Familiarity with University of Calgary systems including PeopleSoft, Concur, and research ethics procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), AI tools, map-making software, and experienced in preparing reports, tracking budgets, and organizing project data.
- Proficient in website platform Wix.
- Experience with, eFin and BI Reports to pull financial reports from university systems is a strong asset.
- Knowledge or experience with sensory approaches (e.g., smellscapes, soundscapes, audio recordings, soundcloud, AI apps) is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience supporting stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge or experience in accessible museum and exhibitions is an asset.
- Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive practices is an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Zoom for meetings.
