Key Leadership Initiatives For This Role
- Provide financing and reporting, project controls leadership for all Hospital Development activities,
- Contribute financial insights that inform government fiscal planning and funding policies/ practices, ensuring financial sustainability and strategic policy development in relation to Hospital Development
- Support and influence CGMH on matters related to future hospital financial matters, including long-range financial planning processes, development and coordination of operational service planning and future annual operating and capital budgets, and hospital funding advocacy
- Support a range of corporate strategic projects and initiatives of the hospital related to capacity building projects, integrated care, capital and other strategic endeavours.
- Provide support for the continued development of a best-in-class customer service model, working in partnership with a broad group of clinical and enabling services leaders across the organization.

Key Accountabilities For CGMH's Capital Development
- Develop and manage strategic initiatives in alignment with CGMH's Hospital Development Strategy
- Ensure capital project budgets are established and managed effectively
- Support stabilization and optimization of relevant capital financial reporting
- Establish and maintain strategic alliances with members of the health care industry, community businesses and organizations, government agencies, regulatory boards, CGMH's Board of Directors, the Hospital Development Committee, and other stakeholders.
- Develop financial materials (Briefing Notes, Presentations, Funding Letters, and various Submissions) to Support the Vice President, Hospital Development with Board committee presentations to inform key corporate planning and funding decisions.
- Recommend, develop, and implement strategies for controlling future hospital assets, budget planning expenditure control, fund management, cash, treasury, and investment management.
- Review and oversee capital budgets for compliance with all statutory and regulatory
- requirements.
- Support staff growth through coaching and talent management, including supports for exceptional staff performance.
- Research, analyze and develop policies and procedures to ensure proper controls exist to maintain control and safeguard hospital assets.
- Communicate across the organization on all capital financial matters to advise on financial issues and to collect input/feedback from stakeholders.
- Represent Capital Finance or at times be the VP, Hospital Development's designate for CGMH on various internal and external committees.
- Lead the Financial arm of the Procurement process, reviewing all proponent submissions, applying established criteria to determine the hospital's recommendation for ranking submissions.
- Responsible for the review and analysis of proposed cash flow agreements received from the Ministry of Health
- Continuously assess the environment for new trends and provide subject matter expert knowledge and advice to the hospital's senior leadership team.
- Work closely with partners to strengthen accountability by driving and accelerating performance improvements.
THE PERSON
Education/Professional Credentials
- Graduate degree in Business, Accounting or Health Administration are required,
- Accounting designation required (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) a must, and
- Experience in a leadership-level corporate/operational leadership role, with Director-level experience is an asset
Experience And Competencies
- 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting or similarly complex and highly regulated organization.
- Experience in supporting financial aspects of hospital redevelopment projects
- Experience in leading large change initiatives and in leading capital planning processes required.
- Proven experience in leading analysis on hospital and health care revenue and expenditures as well as experience contributing to strategic policy development and analysis on hospital funding and financial sustainability.
- Proven ability to focus on technical details and methodologies as required.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in project planning, management, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, statistical/data analysis, and benchmarking.
- Strong, well-developed business management skills (strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting, resource allocation, and analytics).
- Exceptional team building skills and the ability to lead people.
- A champion of change, quality, and process improvement.
- Exceptional communication skills. Strong writing, oral and presentation skills.
- Ability to network across the organization and externally with partners such as Ontario Health, the Ministry of Health and other health system partners.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
