THE OPPORTUNITY
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES \& RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning and disinfection of patient and non-patient rooms
- Cleaning and Disinfection of specialty areas which include but not limited to the Birthing Unit, Surgical Studies, Neonatal Intensive Care, Diagnostic Imaging
- Performs weekly and monthly project cleaning as required
- Change patient room and shower curtains as required
- Curtain changing with ladder 6-8ft in height
- Wall washing
- Elevator Cleaning to include tracks
- Extracting carpets and upholstered furniture
- Handling and transporting all types of waste in healthcare
- Operation of floor cleaning equipment not limited to burnishes, auto scrubbers, extractors, vacuums
- Responsible for the daily care of equipment after each use
- Restock designated housekeeping closets with supply
- Clean housekeeping closets and tools associated with the tasks
- To report health \& safety related concerns through the incident management system
- Report broken equipment and tag as appropriate
- Adheres to infection control guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent required
- Previous Experience working in a housekeeping department is an asset
- Ability to effectively Communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to function independently
- Ability to operate commercial floor cleaning equipment common to the work being performed including, vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher etc.
- Must be well organized, motivated and be able to handle a constant and varied workload, adjust priorities and able to be flexible
- Familiar with WHMIS, chemical and dilution rates
- Familiar in handling/transporting different types of waste in healthcare
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including -- standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, reaching forward and above and blow the shoulders, able to lift up to 15kg
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with GBGH standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task and work independently
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health \& Safety Act and other relevant legislation
- Compliance with Body Substance Precautions provision, sanitary and infection control requirements, confidentiality requirements
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles

- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position
HOURS OF WORK
COMPENSATION
- Hourly rate of pay $28.79-$29.46, plus additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation to start
