The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for the promotion and specification of SOPREMA products and systems to clients within the assigned territory. This role includes maintaining existing clients and developing new clients for growth.
The prime market areas include industrial, commercial, and institutional construction segments. Clients include owners, corporate and property management accounts, engineers, consultants, applicator/contractors, and distributors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the efforts of the sales force and relationships with distributors and professionals.
- Develop plans for local market coverage to effectively promote SOPREMA products.
- Arrange meetings, demonstrations, or seminars highlighting SOPREMA products using events such as "Lunch \& Learns" and Symposiums.
- Conduct site visits to assess project needs and recommend appropriate roofing systems.
- Interpret and explain technical data, installation guidelines, and building codes to clients.
- Assist in troubleshooting field issues and coordinate resolutions with the internal technical team.
- Participate in industry trade shows and association meetings.
- Analyze market issues and trends and make recommendations to the Regional Manager to adjust pricing and technical recommendations as required.
- Maintain a positive presence with industry professionals, including contractors, engineers, consultants, specification writers, and owners.
- Communicate with all head office departments providing market information and technical concerns.
- May require additional functions as directed by the Sales Director.
Qualifications:
- Education in Business, Building or Materials Engineering, or Architecture.
- Continued education in sales training or industry-related disciplines.
- Bilingual (an asset).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the construction and related markets in the assigned region.
- 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the construction market or a similar market.
- Working knowledge of the Building Envelope including Waterproofing and Air Barrier Markets; knowledgeable in Spray Foam Insulation.
- Ability to read architectural plans and specifications and draw simple construction details.
- Executive-level presentation, selling, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent listening and questioning skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Work Conditions:
- Some after-hours meetings and weekend activities may be required.
- Daily work schedule can vary depending on circumstances.
- Travel within the local market and potentially in the United States may be required. Must have a valid driver's license and Canadian Passport.
Physical Requirements:
- Excellent physical condition required.
- Regularly visit job sites, climbing stairs and/or ladders to access roofs or below-grade situations.
- Must be comfortable with heights and working on construction sites.
- May require performing small demonstrations of product usage at job sites, symposiums, or trade shows, which may involve the use of specialized tools.
