PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Governance Specialist, Procurement \& Field Inventory (internally named Procurement Specialist) supports the safety and sustainable service by looking to create a culture of innovation. They are also responsible for the planning, execution, delivery and ongoing support of selected procurement and supply chain related system. This position is accountable for the delivery and maintenance of procurement policies and strategy in line with the supply chain best practices. This position will report into the Procurement Manager and will be supporting the Mechanical Business user purchasing for Railcar.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for a purchasing portfolio of repairable and outright inventoried materials
- Daily monitoring and action of MRP generated purchase requisitions
- Provide end-user customer support and training on Sourcing to Pay processes
- Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity, and on time delivery of goods
- Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times.
- Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers
- Continuously improve Supply Chain Planning processes
- Coordinate and communicate on various initiatives with other team members and cross functionally
- Collaborate with working teams to define and execute different project initiatives
- Visit field locations to provide support to mechanical organization
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Education, preferably a University Degree (Business, Finance or Engineering an asset)
- Min. 3 years of experience in Procurement and/or inventory management
- Must have experience visiting or working in a warehouse
- Strong excel skills and analytical capabilities
- Systems aptitude, experience with SAP
