IT Security Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Security Architect to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include advancing the organization's security program with your expertise through analysis, prioritizing additional controls, and creating a roadmap for continuous improvement of our security posture.
This position requires a deep understanding of security principles, risk management, and the ability to design and implement robust security architectures.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
Security Architecture Design:
- Develop and maintain the security architecture framework for the organization.
- Design and implement security solutions to protect data, systems, and networks.
- Ensure security architecture aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IT and business units to integrate security into all phases of project development.
Risk Management and Analysis:
- Provide Cybersecurity expertise to implement best practices, delivering comprehensive program updates focusing on high-level risks, threats and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate security vulnerabilities and threats.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
- Work with Security Operations Center (SOC) team and the broader IT Security team to determine root causes and recommend improvements.
- Stay current with emerging security threats and trends to proactively enhance security measures supported by AtkinsRéalis CTI group.
Policy and Compliance:
- Develop, update, and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to verify compliance supported by IT Governance group.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure adherence to security policies and best practices.
- Review and comment on bids and contracts with 3rd party partners and providers.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with IT, legal, and business teams to address security concerns and requirements.
- Communicate security risks and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide training and awareness programs to educate employees on security best practices.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security architecture.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain a Level II -- Secret security clearance.
- Strong understanding of security principles, frameworks, and standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST).
- Proven experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and tools.
- Proven experience with cloud security and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Proven experience in implementing Security \& Risk Management programs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
