Our Sensor Scientist will be responsible for designing, prototyping, characterizing, and validating biosensors, as well as their manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of design including requirements definition, supporting analyses, material selection and specification, engineering execution, and verifications/validations. This role also requires liaising with internal and external design teams to ensure seamless integration of all elements of the point-of-care blood analysis system, including the biosensors, fluidic system, and measuring instrument.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the design of biosensors and their manufacturing processes
Design, perform, analyze, and summarize biosensor characterization experiments
Assist in the development of sensor models/algorithms/transfer functions
Manage project scope to ensure objectives and quality standards are met
Participate in construction of the design history file and device master record
Investigate and troubleshoot technical problems
Work within a project team environment and coordinate work with other project disciplines
Maintain and organize all project-related documentation
Work independently and make technical decisions
Draft and execute study plans, verification/validation protocols, and drive the release of the corresponding reports
Assist in the preparation of 510(k) and other regulatory applications Job DemandsIn-depth understanding and effective use of statistical methods and analysis

Hands-on experience in electrochemical or optical (optode) sensor development is a major asset
Experience with enzymatic and metabolite sensors is considered an asset
Experience in clinical chemistry and blood sensor development is also a major asset
Significant experience in optical spectroscopy, UV-Vis absorbance, fluorescence, FTIR, optical microscopy
Knowledge of CLSI methods and guidelines for IVD validation and verification is a significant asset
Strong verbal communication skills

Skill in the use of statistical tools, data representation, and interpretation
