Position: Social Media Specialist
Location: 299 Queen Street West, Toronto (ON)
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime and weekend shifts as required.
Etalk is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Specialist. Reporting to the Managing Editor, this role is responsible for reviewing, editing, and publishing all digital posts while also ideating and producing original video content, celebrity interviews, and brand partnership deliverables. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of social media trends, strong editorial judgment, and a passion for entertainment news.
Responsibilities
- Create and publish daily entertainment news content across social platforms.
- Edit and schedule posts, ensuring accuracy, strong copywriting, and adherence to journalistic and brand standards.
- Engage with audiences through comment moderation, audience interaction, and competitive analysis.
- Produce original video digital content and support with in-studio and field shoots for social platforms.
- Maintain brand standards by managing negative or harmful interactions on all social platforms.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and digital culture.
- Degree or Diploma in Television Broadcasting, Journalism, Digital, Film or related.
- Excellent writing, research, and copy-editing skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working on video productions optimized for web and social media platforms.
- Experience in interviews.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
- Strong familiarity with Etalk and its on-air team.
- Excellent knowledge of pop culture, TV, movies, music, and both entertainment and lifestyle news and trends.
- Possess an initiative-taking, multitasking personality, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Bilingualism English and French is an asset.
