Job Title: Systems Administrator
Position Summary:
Responsible for independently installing, configuring, and maintaining servers to ensure reliable access and performance. The Senior Systems Administrator will handle software updates, patches, and backups to maintain data integrity and minimize downtime. Additionally, this role involves documenting server configurations and managing user permissions to support secure and efficient server operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor server health, troubleshoot issues, and implement security protocols to safeguard against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
- Perform daily checks on server performance, including running backups, data extracts, scripts, and implementing performance improvements.
- Respond to after-hours calls for server-related issues.
- Document server configurations and benchmark performance metrics.
- Administer Microsoft 365 online environments, including Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office applications.
- Oversee SharePoint and SQL administration for on-premises systems.
- Set up new server hardware, apply updates, and perform system patching.
- Manage Active Directory and associated support systems.
- Provide recommendations to management on new systems or updates to existing systems.
- Configure and manage cloud-based infrastructure in AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot networking infrastructure such as routers, switches, and other network devices.
- Manage and monitor security systems, including firewalls, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Optimize systems to safeguard against security threats.
- Configure and maintain identity and access management solutions, including multi-factor authentication (MFA), single sign-on (SSO), and other identity standards.
- Research emerging technologies, review processes, and provide recommendations for improving IT practices as part of continuous quality improvement.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience, including at least 8 years in server administration and 5 years in a senior support role.
- Must be available for on-call work during after-hours as needed.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience with networking systems is preferred.
- On-call support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft Server (2016 and later), SharePoint Server, and SQL Server.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment and Additional Details:
- Primary work environment: In-office.
- On-call requirement: Availability for after-hours work is required.
