About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Consolidations, the Senior Accountant, Consolidations will have the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute the monthly consolidation and close process that drives the financial statements of Brookfield Renewable Partners LP (BEP) and Brookfield Renewable Corp. (BEPC);
- Prepare supporting schedules and analysis required for financial statement disclosures and management reporting;
- Correspond regularly with portfolio companies and other corporate departments on financial close related activities;
- Actively participate in the review of quarterly accounting reports received from portfolio companies to ensure consistency and accuracy, and provide timely feedback;
- Maintain corporate level internal control documentation to ensure the financial statement close process is SOX compliant;
- Assist in the integration of new assets/acquisitions into the consolidated accounting and reporting framework;
- Assist with external auditors' requests to ensure all documentation requirements are met;
- Proactively identify issues and implement improvements to streamline processes;
- Perform Ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Solid analytical abilities, combined with strong attention to detail; working in a conscientious, consistent and thorough manner;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities;
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to proactively establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group at all levels of the organization and across platforms;
- Recognized professional accounting designation from CPA Canada or CPA US
- Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of progressive work experience with Canadian or US public accounting firm
- Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS
- Experience with accounting and consolidation systems considered an asset (OneStream, Cognos Controller)
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
