Manager, Human Resources \& Business Partner
The position reports to the VP, Human Resources, and is responsible for overseeing the Human Resources Operations for Butterfield Support Services (Halifax) Limited. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the HR Operations Team, including but not limited to recruitment, employee engagement, employee relations, payroll, and benefits, while also providing expertise and support as the HR Business Partner to the Managing Director and leadership team.

Our Human Resources team focuses on all areas of HR including recruitment and retention, learning and development, talent management, culture and engagement, payroll and benefits, and information management and analytics. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the Halifax HR Operations, ensuring a high level of service delivery and resilience in the areas of recruitment and talent development/management, engagement, employee relations, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Effectively leading and mentoring a team of HR Coordinators and Specialists, providing subject matter expertise with a commitment to building and leading a high performing team.
- Overseeing the semi-monthly payroll process, ensuring SOX controls are effectively managed.
- Acting as a trusted HR Partner, working closely with the Managing Director and leadership team in Halifax to ensure business needs are well understood and HR programs and initiatives are structured and aligned.
- Overseeing the AIP and other immigration applications, programs, and processes, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Reporting quarterly on HR KPIs while identifying and presenting opportunities to enhance, improve, or implement new programs and initiatives to best support the business and team.
- Leading the talent acquisition team, ensuring an effective talent management strategy is in place to support Halifax growth objectives
- Leading and supporting the performance management programs, supporting talent development, career progression, and succession planning for the Halifax team.
- Aligning HR policies, programs, and initiatives with business strategy, divisional goals, and corporate culture, ensuring local legislative requirements are met, and local market norms and best practices are considered.
- As a member of the Halifax management team, contributing to the development and execution of local initiatives
- Participating in Group HR projects and programs, working collaboratively with peers across jurisdictions.
- Representing Butterfield Halifax in the local market, establishing and managing relationships with vendors, partners, and the business community.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Post-secondary education in Business or Human Resources, combined with a minimum seven years' HR experience, at least two of which in a leadership capacity.
- Strong HR Generalist experience with deep knowledge of HR operations, including recruitment, payroll, and benefits; previous payroll experience in a highly controlled environment (e.g., SOX) is considered benefitial.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations with the ability to effectively manage risk and problem solve.
- Knowledge of and experience working with local employment legislation is required, and previous immigration processes and programs experience is considered an asset.
- Exceptional ability to establish and manage strong working relationships to partner with business leaders and stakeholders, adding value to their teams and business through your HR expertise and guidance.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills, coupled with the ability to make and support risk-based decisions.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with team members.
- Must have integrity and high ethical standards, with the ability to work with and handle sensitive data and information with absolute discretion.
- Must be results oriented and service delivery focused.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, and previous HRIS experience with the ability to learn and adopt new systems and processes with ease.
