Working with one of the top financial clients, this role calls for a BA/BSA-Data who will support data mapping and data definition activities. This individual will not be responsible for writing queries or building reports, but rather for interpreting, contextualizing, and defining data elements that will be used downstream by data analysts and analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
- Work with data analysts and analytic teams to understand data requirements.
- Analyze and interpret existing data structures and how they relate to business processes.
- Create clear and contextualized data definitions for various data elements (e.g., define "Account Number" as "a unique identifier for all deposit accounts in X system").
- Ensure that data definitions are written in plain language, reflecting business process context and are easily consumable by downstream users.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand current state processes and how data flows through them.
- Maintain documentation and deliverables that support data understanding across teams.
Desired Skill Set:
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in data mapping and data element definition.
- Ability to understand business processes and map those to the underlying data.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to clearly define technical concepts in business terms.
- Prior experience working closely with data analysts, data engineering, or analytics teams.
- Solid BA/BSA fundamentals -- stakeholder management, requirements gathering, documentation, etc.
Nice To Have:
- Broader BA skills to jump in and support other business analysis workstreams as needed.
- Experience working in banking, financial services, or regulated environments is a plus.
