About The Emergency Department
In This Role You Will
- Triage incoming patients, prioritizing based on severity
- Administer medications and perform medical procedures such as wound care and intravenous line placement
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education on diagnoses and treatment plans
- Document patient information accurately and maintain organized medical equipment
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest medical advancements and emergency protocols
- Demonstrate adaptability, quick decision-making, and effective communication in handling emergencies
Job Requirements
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor's degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- As a condition of hire, the ACLS course must be successfully completed within six (6) months of hire
Preferred

A baccalaureate degree from a CNO-approved nursing program. Applicants in their final year or near completion will be considered

1-2 years' experience in Medical/Surgical or Adult Critical Care nursing

Recent Emergency Department or Medical/Surgical Step-Down Unit experience

Successful completion of a Coronary Care 1 course

Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills

Superior interpersonal, communication, leadership and public relations skills
