Seeking Mechanical Engineers (and Designers) to become an integral part of our commercial interiors team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanical building services design with sound fundamental knowledge of HVAC systems. This is a great opportunity if you are ready for new challenges that will take you from the office desk out onto the site performing various tasks from load calculations, site surveys and drawing production.
Responsibilities
- Participates in project teams and manages assignments within overall project framework
- Co-ordinates mechanical design with all project consultants (Architects, Interior Designers, etc.)
- Performs engineering calculations including building heat gain/loss calculations, ventilation calculations, system friction losses, energy analysis, equipment and material sizing
- Conducts site surveys
- Prepares contract drawings (in CAD and/or REVIT), equipment schedules and technical specifications for submission to Clients and City Officials
- Provides follow-up assistance during construction activities and participates in site meetings.
- Documents progress and results through preparation of reports, memos and detailed site surveys
- Reviews equipment shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability
- Performs any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by Principals or Engineering Managers
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Degree (or Diploma/Degree from a mechanical building services/engineering program)
- A C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities will also be considered
- 1-2 years of experience preferred, however new grads are encouraged to apply
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit
- Knowledge and experience with TRACE, HAP or eQuest would be an asset
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE 62.1, NFPA 13 etc.)
- Superior time management skills as Candidate may work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Candidate must communicate professionally and effectively with clients, contractors, peer consultants and fellow employees
- Candidate must be able to organize and coordinate work between team members to achieve successful project submissions
- Be able to work efficiently under varying amounts of supervision. Candidate will be responsible for accuracy and quality of assigned work and its timely delivery
- Hold a valid Ontario driving license
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, specifically Word and Excel
