The Role
Reporting to the Vice President, External Relations, the Director is responsible for the overall general management of the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CEE). This includes, but is not limited to, management of the financial budget, fundraising and grant development, defining and executing programs and events, managing personnel and partnerships, implementing and executing both online and in-person support of entrepreneurs, including educational curricula and pedagogy as well as advisor and mentor networks, and overall entrepreneurial ecosystem development in close partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic faculty and staff, other organizations, and the entrepreneurship community. The Director will work closely with an Advisory Board and the Vice President, External Relations to align the activities of the CEE with the strategic plans of Northwestern Polytechnic and the needs of the entrepreneurship community.
Specific areas of importance include the ability to:
- Establish and manage both formal partnerships and less formal collaborations with other organizations impacting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Grande Prairie, including non-profit and government organizations, academic institutions, financial institutions, private companies, community, industry, Indigenous partners, and others.
- Define specific objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated budget allocations.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the evolving entrepreneurship support ecosystem, including the strategic plans and agendas of other organizations supporting the region, to ensure that the CEE strategic plan is complementary and synergistic with others.
- Organize and participate in community events and initiatives related to entrepreneurship.
- Develop, manage, monitor, and report on the financial budget and related objectives and key performance indicators. This includes the approval of purchases and allocation of CEE resources.
