Reporting to the Manager of North American Payroll this is an important role managing and coordinating payroll processing operations. You will be responsible for overseeing a large team supporting and troubleshooting whilst maintaining payroll processing systems in a timely manner. The Payroll Manager will have thorough knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations.
In a typical day, YOU will:
- Be responsible for overseeing and directing payroll procedures and best practices
- Develop processes and system upgrades (manage codes/rules) to meet internal and external audit requirements
- Coordinate timekeeping records and maintain employee data
- Ensuring records and processes comply with company and legal regulations
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll audits
- Supervise and coach the team in best practices, governance and regulations
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and annual regulatory filings
Must-haves for this role:
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or equivalent
- Proven experience as a payroll management, a minimum 8+ years of applicable payroll experience
- Professional certification PCP is a requirement and CPM is considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset
- Strong computer skills; MS Office Suite (Intermediate level in Excel), as well as HRIS (UKG preferred)
