Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We are currently looking for a Strategic Energy Manager to join our team in the Calgary office on a contract basis.
Reporting to the Manager, Midstream Business, this position will be responsible for improving the organization's energy performance through assessment, prioritization, and implementation of practices, processes, and policies that generate sustainable energy savings. The Strategic Energy Manager will work with utility providers to monitor Tourmaline's energy performance and create quarterly report to measure progress toward Tourmaline's energy targets and work on energy initiatives. Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:Working collaboratively with utility providers, Tourmaline's Engineering, Maintenance, and Emissions teams on the energy management program to improve energy efficiency of site operations
Assist in liaising between BCHydro and TourmalineDefine, prioritize and manage project opportunities for energy management at Tourmaline's operational facilities
Complete/facilitate system audit on Tourmaline British Columbia assets to identify quick wins and optimization of existing systems.Implement energy-savings measures, improve operations, maintenance and processes across British Columbia assets by utilizing intuitive mechanisms and platforms embedded into existing plant management systems. Create inventory list of equipment and energy utilization
Understand the potential opportunities through familiarization of efforts at other industrial sites and coordination with other energy management professionals.Create a workflow for monitoring energy consumption on electrified assets
Define a baseline for energy consumption and a system to monitor energy use year-over year
Identifying appropriate KPIs to measure and manage energy consumption and efficiency is a critical aspect.Build and maintain energy usage model Report on seasonal variations and annual trends
Define energy consumption targets
Complete new plant design and energy study on recently electrified assets Represent Tourmaline in BCHyrdo system impact studies including acting as the interface between BCHydro and Tourmaline design personnel. This includes preparing cost, schedule and scope reports related to the system impact studies. Improving energy management awareness in the organization
Drive a concerted effort to set up the necessary data infrastructure and workflows for managing information and initiatives
Present to senior management and industry stakeholders regularly on progress. Qualifications and ExperienceRegistered Professional Engineer or Registered Engineering Technologist or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Designation through the Association of Energy Engineers is a requirement. Energy efficiency training such as the CIET Energy Management Training course LEED Professional Accreditation is considered an asset.
Minimum of 10 years work experience in industrial process and in the operation, maintenance and management of electrical or mechanical systems Familiarity and knowledge of energy efficient technologies and oil and gas operations. Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to energy efficiency. Other Required Experience and Skills Demonstrated experience and ability in writing detailed reports Demonstrated supervisory experience Experience with using common computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills Project management experience of small capital projects
