Title: Business Intelligence Development Co-op - 112511Primary Location: Canada (CA) - Ontario - Grimsby Function: Technology (CA) Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position
Candidates applying for this position must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
The position is located onsite in the John Deere Canada Grimsby office five days per week.
This position will have a 12-month term starting September 2025.
Your Responsibilities
In this co-op role, you will be an integral part of the Business Intelligence and Analytics Team, dedicated to delivering Business Intelligence, Analytical, and Automation solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining BI and analytical solutions using platforms such as Power BI, Paginated Reports, Tableau, and Alteryx, leveraging enterprise data to develop, implement, and optimize SQL queries that drive impactful decision-making.
Additionally, you will work with a variety of tools, including SharePoint Online, MS Power Apps, MS Flow, MS Power Virtual Agents, MS Power Automate, Excel, VBA, MS Canvas, R, Shiny, and more, to streamline workflows by transforming manual and semi-manual processes into automated and efficient solutions.
Furthermore, you will be part of a team that follows the Agile methodology, gaining exposure to key Agile concepts and practices such as Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, user story estimation, prioritization, and rollout.
You will also collaborate with stakeholders and business partners, which includes but is not limited to managers and employees from various departments (e.g., Legal, HR, Accounting, Training, EHS), who bring diverse ideas and processes to the team. Your role will involve understanding their needs, identifying opportunities for automation, and helping them gain deeper insights into enterprise data. This will be achieved by working on projects alongside different team members in a cooperative paired programming and innovative problem-solving environment. You will be creating user guides, technical documentation, and videos for developed projects or supported projects for the stakeholders in their use of the solutions that you deliver.
What Skills You Need
Technical, Must-Have Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL for querying, and analyzing.
- Basic understanding of application development, databases, and data management concepts.
- Understanding of UI/UX principles for designing user-friendly applications.
- Familiarity with fundamentals of the Software Development Lifecycle.
What Makes You Stand Out
Technical Good to Have Skills:
- Familiarity with BI and analytical tools such as Power BI, Paginated Reports, Tableau, and Alteryx.
- Exposure to workflow automation tools such as SharePoint Online, MS Power Apps, MS Power Automate, MS Flow, and MS Power Virtual Agents.
- Experience with Excel, VBA, R, Shiny, and other data-driven tools is a plus.
- Experience in using any RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) and NoSQL databases.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across departments.
- Ability to work independently and quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies, including daily standups, sprint planning, and user story prioritization, is an asset.
Education
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree in a technical field, including but not limited to Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering.
Strong technical aptitude with a keen interest in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Automation solutions.
