Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including bills, checks, and other financial documents, ensuring proper authorization and distribution
- Verify financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies
- Monitor financial transactions and maintain up-to-date records in accounting systems
- Assist with account reconciliations and help resolve discrepancies
- Participate in core bookkeeping functions such as journal entries, ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation
- Manage petty cash resources (tokens, taxi chits, gift cards) and assist with scanning and organizing documents for financial record-keeping
Qualifications Other Duties as Assigned
- Academic background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with accounting software is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and working in diverse communities
Eligibility
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the position
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
