The Plant Foreman assists in coordinating and directing the workload for maximum efficiency and productivity.
A Day in The Life
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assume overall responsibility for shop management
- Prioritize repairs coming into the shop with management as related to day-to-day planning.
- Perform preventative maintenance, major component change-outs, inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, test, and repair equipment, running field service maintenance and complete rebuilds
- Inspect equipment to detect deficiencies and damage
- Recommend maintenance and repair for equipment
- Ensure equipment meets regulatory requirements
- Maintain a clean and tidy personal work area and assist with general cleaning duties in a workshop environment
- Keep all tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Facilitate effective organization and flow of jobs to optimize the completion of projects, including reassignment of resources due to delays
- Assign employees to specific tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and prioritize work accordingly
- Ensure that all equipment is in proper and safe working order daily
- Prepare various work-related written reports and schedules
- Complete all paperwork daily and submit to the office as requested
- Ensure compliance with all company, customer, and government regulations
- Ensure the Health and Safety of all workers on-site
- Work with the regional leadership team to achieve goals and objectives
- Other job duties as requested.
Skills, Experience \& Qualifications
The individual in this role will have:
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the heavy equipment industry with shop exposure and field repair capabilities
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy equipment and other power-driven equipment and tools
- Journeyman Mechanic certification
- Skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of heavy equipment
- Ability to multi-task and meet objectives/deliverables
- Ability to mentor and lead a team of trades personnel
- Results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to handle change
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Previous Forklift/Bobcat/Crane experience would be considered an asset
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50lbs for extended periods
- Strong commitment to health, safety, environment, and customer service
- Valid safety tickets: (H2S, Confined Space, Forklift, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, and PST)
- Commitment to working as part of a team and making safe choices.
