Location: Vaughan
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Managing Director in orchestrating the firm's financial operations, trust accounting, intercompany transactions and GST/HST filings.
- Processing Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) and disbursements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements specific to the legal industry.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Reconcile accounts, including trust accounts, and ensure proper allocation of funds.
- Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors if necessary.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation not required but preferred.
- Minimum of 2--5 years of experience in accounting, demonstrated experience working within a professional services environment a must.
- Familiarity with trust accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, PCLaw, Soluno) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
