++DUTIES++:
Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, this position will be responsible for minor repairs and servicing of vehicles and equipment. Performs inspections for the tire service operation and performs lubrication, replacements, and inspections for a preventative maintenance service program of a municipal fleet, utilizing proper tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Change motor oil, transmission, and radiator fluids, and lubricates vehicles and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance programme by checking, replacing and repairing (i.e., batteries, hoses, exhaust system, tires, belts, lights, filters). Utilizes computer system to record and keep proper daily records of maintenance requirements; operates various types of vehicles and equipment for (i.e., steam cleaning, hoisting, delivery, sandblasting, brazing, and cutting). Dismounts, mounts, and balances various size tires (i.e., cars, trucks, tractors, graders, etc.), and reports other defects found (i.e., worn brake lining, oil leaks). Repairs tires using proper equipment (i.e., tubeless, tube type and calcium filled). Operates and maintains service truck for service calls in all types of weather and all conditions. Fueling, washing and moving of vehicles. Documents levels of fuel at fueling sites, monitors fuel systems repairs. Schedules units for servicing. Writes daily reports, keeps records (excel spreadsheet) and controls stock. Works on a computer to record information. Control and document stock and materials. Issues, dispenses, returns and/or receives items in a safe and professional manner. Communicates and cooperates with other employees, vendors and the public and works with minimum supervision. Maintains cleanliness of tools, equipment and work area. Will work in all types of weather and conditions. Will perform Occupational Health \& Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation's Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required.
++QUALIFICATIONS++:
- Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
- Must have over one (1) year of work experience in vehicle maintenance and lubrication, including the performing of automatic transmission oil and filter changes;
- Must hold and maintain a current, valid and lawful Class 'D' Driver's License with a 'Z' endorsement ++OR++ Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver's Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and must attain a current, valid and lawful Class 'D' Driver's License with a "Z" endorsement in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle within the probationary/confirmation period. Failure to obtain a current, valid and lawful Class 'D' Driver's License with a 'Z' endorsement in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act within the probationary/confirmation period will result in disqualification from the classification and the employee being returned to their former position, if applicable;
- Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude;
- Must be able to use a cutting torch and do minor gas welding and brazing;
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of the geographical layout of the City;
- Must be physically fit.
- The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a heavy level of work.
- Must complete a post-offer agility test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
