AECOM's Water group in BC is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Controls (EIC) Engineer for a full-time position as a Technical Lead supporting our water team. The projects executed out of our Burnaby, office are primary in the Municipal sector. Our team is part of a multi-engineering water/wastewater team that support large infrastructure projects in Western Canada and mainly with Metro Vancouver.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Leads a team of electrical Engineers and Designers in the successful execution of EIC engineering, design and construction support for large municipal infrastructure projects.
- Provides technical leadership and serve as technical advisor for other team members
- Provides mentoring for the engineers-in-training and designers.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise such as;
- Prepares and verifies load calculations as well as utilize modeling software to size transformers, generators, switchgear, breakers, switches, MCCs, cables, UPS, harmonic filters, and other electrical equipment used in distribution;
- Develop electrical studies using specialized software (ETAP and/or EasyPower) and perform analysis such as power flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection \& coordination and harmonic analysis
- Independently work to provide EI\&C engineering tasks for municipal projects to clients based in Western Canada especially for Metro Vancouver type of work.
- Design and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system and low-tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems) focused on low voltage applications for industrial environments.
- Design and specify process instrumentation and control devices for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
- Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
- Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-scale water and wastewater projects under minimal supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and sounds engineering practices.
- Take direction from Projects' Managers, Leads and Process Engineers, and work closely with other discipline Designers and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision.
- Ensures effective communication within the design team and with client engineers.
- Provides support to project management, contract administration and field reviews for project under construction.
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
- Strictly adhere to AECOM's project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements as required.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and with the clients' standards and expectation.
