Summary
Essential Responsibilities
- Review scope of work and previous system reports to prepare for intervention
- Travel to customer sites around the globe with specialized work equipment
- Lead commissioning of SKF magnetic bearing levitation systems at customer sites
- Connect and configure magnetic bearing modules based on customized drawings
- Perform electronic adjustments/checks of feedback control filters
- Perform mechanical adjustments/checks of electro-mechanical sensory components
- Collect and analyze transfer functions and live data
- Set system interlocks and perform security checks
- Configure Modbus and network settings
- Take guidance from technical advisors from the mechatronics engineering team
- Perform technical audits of magnetic bearing systems in the field
- Troubleshoot issues related to electrical components and mechanical actuators
- Follow up on corrective actions in cooperation with the Technical Service Manager
- Check the health of spare components for customers
- Perform soldering for field repairs/configuration
- Compile detailed field reports using SKF guidelines related to the above points
- Follow procedures and templates
Secondary Responsibilities Performed Outside Of Field Interventions
- Prepare and organize future intervention jobs
- Update documents related to field work and corrective actions
- Investigate in-house technical issues and help prepare engineering documents
- Inspect customer returns of sub-components and release technical findings
- Provide feedback based on field work and in-house developments
- Assist in R\&D activities when applicable and provide valuable insight for future development
- Develop engineering drawings and documentation
- Provide training to customers
Remote Engineering Service Support
- Emergency interventions can be carried out with remote control tools and holographic glasses
Technical Hotline Support
- Cover the support line (Hotline), either by phone, email, or SMS. Hotline coverage is divided equally among on-call employees
Requirements
- Ability to travel around the globe
- Ability to travel to the USA without visa processing for applicants in Canada
- Ability to travel to Canada without visa processing for applicants in the USA
- Must be flexible and able to travel for up to a maximum of 200 days per year, remote service days are counted towards this
- Typical interventions can last 2-3 weeks, up to a maximum of 6 weeks
- Must be safety conscious and understand customer limitations
- Strong electrical and mechanical problem-solving skills
- Experience in Mechatronics and Control Systems is an asset
- Able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
- Industrial process knowledge
- Electrical Engineering degree
- New graduate to 7 years of experience
- Minimum: Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) or eligible for E.I.T status
- Continuous technical training will be provided
