Provide direct supervision and leadership to landscape maintenance crews

Coordinate with internal and external clients

Ensure safety at all levels of work, adhering to environmental policies, procedures, and standards

Evaluate and deliver daily field-level hazard assessments, controls, and task competencies

Complete daily safety and ecological site meetings, inspections, and related documentation

Resolve issues with equipment allocation and breakdowns
-
Complete and inspect internal and external paperwork
-
Correctly track inventory and update client spreadsheets and dashboard
-
Complete timesheets, vacation requests, and attendance management documentation
-
Other related duties as required.

In field leadership while working with a crew to complete snow and ice control on various tasks
-
Uphold high standards of work in accordance with the City of Edmonton's Policies and program guidelines
-
Participate in manual labour/equipment operation to complete snow and ice tasks with assigned crew
-
Train and coach staff on proper equipment usage and ensure work is completed to a high standard
-
Ensure documentation is completed accurately and assist LD2 with record keeping and updating digital tracking sheets and task cards when required
-
Deliver excellent customer service to the citizens
-
Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso Environmental Program - ISO 14001

Emergency First Aid Certificate

Experience with snow and ice control
-
Alberta Pesticide Applicators License (Landscape, Industrial, and/or Agricultural designation)

Knowledge and strong ability to use a variety of technologies such as the Google Suite of Programs (Docs, Sheets , Drive, Photos, Calendar etc), use of mobile phone applications as well GIS and mapping programs experience

Proficiency in data collection and record keeping

Knowledge of City/Department policies, procedures, standards, and relevant legislation (i.e. OH\&S, WHMIS)

Ability to ensure management operations are followed and applied in the area of specialization

Ability to lead and develop effective work crews

Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions

Extensive knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in operational areas

Knowledge and ability to operate equipment and tools used in assigned areas. (Specific equipment in position descriptions -- could include mowers, rototillers, sprayers, front-end loaders, light trucks, water trucks, and a wide variety of hand-operated tools, etc.)

Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in snow and ice control and of the relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions

Knowledge of transportation of dangerous goods and truck routes (where applicable)

Ability to communicate and deal effectively with the public, civic departments, and outside organizations

Ability to implement the annual work plan

Ability to train and educate crew members in assigned functional areas

Ability to assist in the management of financial resources

Ability to inspect and approve work completed by crews and/or contractors
