Story Planet is Looking for Facilitators for Our Creative Writing and Arts Summer Camps!
Story Planet is hiring three full-time summer program facilitators for our creative writing and arts summer programs. This is an exciting opportunity to make meaningful contributions to program design and planning while gaining experience working with children in a creative setting.
The role has four primary components:
- Summer Camp Facilitation
You will help deliver all-day programming for two one-week camp sessions (one in July and one in August), directed by our Program Lead.
-
Location is Lord Dufferin Junior and Senior Public School in Moss Park
-
Enrolls children ages 9--12 with a 5:1 facilitator to participant ratio
-
Provides a mix of creative writing, art, and story-making activities as well as field trips to sites in the immediate neighbourhood (Allan Gardens, Riverdale Farm, etc.)
- Program Planning and Preparation
Working alongside our Program Lead, you will help plan and organize these camp sessions, including researching excursions and activities, enrolling participants, communicating with parents, and purchasing snacks and supplies.
- Book Publishing
All Story Planet programs culminate in a published book of participants' work, which we create in-house and give to each student. You will aid this process after each camp session by:
-
Scanning, editing, and assembling participants' writing and art into books
-
Printing and binding books using Story Planet's equipment
-
Delivering books to participants
- Additional Workshops for Kids
As time permits, you will plan and run occasional workshops for children aged 6-12 at Story Planet's office and program space (986 Bathurst).
