About our Client Responsibilities

Communicating with Steam and Mechanical Systems Supervisor to guidance on maintenance and operational tasks
Maintaining various building systems such as medical air/vacuum, mechanical power generation, steam distribution, steam condensate, air conditioning (HVAC), and hot water heating
Using shop drawings and blueprints to reduce the operating impacts in patient care areas
Maintaining a clean workspace while ensuring that all work assignments are carried out in accordance with current regulatory codes, WorkSafe BC legislation, and established Hospital standards
Operating a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and/or electronic control systems
Working on steam and hot water distribution system components including but not limited to piping, insulation, valves, expansion joints, seals, pressure reducing stations, pneumatic and electric motorized control components
Handling repair work on flow meters, steam traps, strainers, receivers, etc.
Monitoring, adjusting, and logging of control parameters
Acting as an Assistant Shift Engineer in the Steam Generation Plant during times of vacation and illness relief as needed
Give the Steam and Mechanical Supervisor recommendations on any system upgrades or improvements
Keeping track of all the materials, tools, and equipment on hand

Qualifications

Graduation in power engineering from a recognized institution is a must
Relevant experience of 4 years, or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience
Certificate of competency as a 3rd class power engineer
Ability to communicate efficiently both in a verbal and written manner
Interpersonal and organizational skills
Physical ability to perform the job's requirements is required
Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings
Ability to use relevant machinery
