MacEwan University is seeking to hire three Security Dispatch Operators for part-time, casual opportunities with our Security Services department. Reporting to the Security Services Supervisor, you will be the primary point of contact for emergency service calls and the Incident Management System, playing a crucial role in MacEwan's Security Services Communications. Your responsibilities include handling complaints, dispatching, answering emergency calls, and maintaining and operating various software applications related to campus security and building systems. You will also monitor all alarm systems and provide support to students, staff, and faculty. Additionally, you will support Facilities workgroups by monitoring plant system and equipment failures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Answering all incoming calls (emergency line, blue phones, elevator phone, etc.) and providing correct information on university policy/procedure;
- Recording and documenting all calls and incidents into the Security Services reporting software;
- Monitoring all the CCTV cameras and afterhours access by staff, students, contractors, and any other persons;
- Distributing keys and access cards;
- Maintaining a log of all non-MacEwan repair workers/building trades working on-site;
- Reporting monthly statistics on maintenance call outs and equipment failure;
- Providing customer service at the office counter when other personnel are not available, including service requests, taking statements, completing forms, and accurately recording found property.
Skills
You will have:
- The aptitude to perform and make critical, quick decisions in emergency situations;
- The capability to proactively manage multiple tasks simultaneously, maintaining high performance under pressure.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Grade 12 diploma;
- A minimum of 2 years of customer service experience (preferably through telephone and radio communication);
- Certificate or Diploma related to Emergency Services;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Position Requirements
- The successful incumbent will be required to obtain a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check;
- This position involves rotating shift work, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
