GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Plant Manager is accountable for planning, organizing, directing, co-ordinating and managing the plant operations. This incumbent is responsible for overseeing the execution of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality control, the application of production standards, and safety programs.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The Plant Manager is responsible for communicating and enforcing the adherence of the company's safety programs. In coordination with the Production Supervisors, the Plant Manager is accountable for promoting a safe work environment for all employees. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that suitable training, and the appropriate tools and equipment are available to employees enabling them to perform their work in a safe and efficient manner.
- This position is accountable for working with Production Supervisors and plant personnel to ensure that every employee is treated with respect. This incumbent reinforces Global's progressive corrective action policy to correct behaviours that are unacceptable.
- This position is responsible for executing the manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
- This position is responsible for implementing a LEAN Manufacturing culture and guiding the plant team on 5S implementation, KAIZEN events and Waste elimination.
- The Plant Manager is accountable for conducting daily production meetings with Production Supervisors to ensure that daily production targets are achieved. To support this, the incumbent reviews scheduled production against actual production and adjusts satisfy customer demands.
- This position is responsible for reviewing the feasibility of new or revised manufacturing methods and procedures. This is achieved through the analysis of the methods and the impact on personnel safety, product quality and cost.
- This position is responsible for taking the necessary actions to eliminate delays to production schedules. To achieve this, the Plant Manager determines when overtime work is required and authorizes the plant personnel to work the required hours to meet production targets.
- The Plant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production targets.
- The Plant Manager is accountable for working with the Production Scheduler and the Purchasers, to develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products which support production targets.
- This position is responsible for establishing plant policies consistent with organizational policies and directs supervisors on the application of such policies.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- University degree or College diploma in engineering or business administration
- 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
- LEAN Manufacturing
- Good communication skills (Written and Verbal)
- Good leadership and decision-making skills
- Sound time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Good interpersonal skills
- Industry experience is an asset
- Mechanically inclined
