Job Description:

Assist in the planning and implementation of recreational programming for clients in the GTA, Halton Region, and Hamilton area.

Support the creation and distribution of the monthly newsletter.

Provide information to residents in the GTA, Halton Region, and Hamilton area about CNIB programming and peer social groups for individuals with vision loss.

Facilitate programming held at the Toronto Hub and various community locations, including:

Communicating with volunteers.

Preparing and setting up sessions.

Offering guidance and support to individuals who are blind or partially sighted.

Perform administrative tasks to support CNIB operations, including:

Updating the Hub calendar.

Tracking and recording program attendance, and volunteer hours as directed.

Sending session reminders.
-
Responding to emails and in-person inquiries related to registration, programming, client services, and special events.
Requirements: Who you are: Education and Certifications
- Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience and Qualifications
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Tech savvy, proficient in Microsoft office software, specially excel and word.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute a plan of action
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional attitude, self-starter and flexible
- Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing sight loss.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
Eligibility

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.

Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
