Team / Role Description:
The Okta Security team's mission is to strengthen Okta's position as the leading Identity-as-a-Service solution through bolstering the security posture of Okta products, and most importantly, our customers. With the ever-increasing pace of cloud application adoption, companies are struggling to find ways to accurately assess risk and act at the speed of their business.
As the Technical Program Manager for the Product Security team, you will assist in driving security initiatives by engaging various cross-functional teams in the design, deployment, and operationalization of bar-raising product security controls. In addition to enabling our customers to safely use any technology, you will be responsible for developing communications, reporting, metrics, dashboards, and documentation to demonstrate the health and progression of the Product Security Portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion. They are highly collaborative and exhibit strong ownership skills for continuously improving delivery efficiency. This position requires strong communication skills that drive alignment between engineering teams and leadership. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program manage various large scale, complex initiatives across multiple teams; taking a hands-on and proactive approach to managing dependencies, unblock progress, define timelines, communicate commitments, and introduce process efficiencies.
- Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
- Anticipate and mitigate program risks - by having close involvement with strategic team goals and understanding potential delivery challenges, applying past experience while keeping the big picture top of mind.
- Lead the development of new processes to benefit security teams and support cross-organizational initiatives.
- Develop and distribute program reporting and targeted communications to create awareness regarding the progress of programs, upcoming activities, and organizational change management.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics to report on program status.
- Collaborate across Okta to drive transparency of Product Security enhancements.
Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Cybersecurity, or equivalent working experience
- 2-3+ years of technical program management experience in large scale SaaS/Cloud environments
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across all levels of an organization
- Deep working experience with Security and/or engineering teams
- Working knowledge of technical terms and concepts used in information security, privacy, risk assessments and contingency planning
- Understanding of development methodologies, such as software development lifecycle and project delivery lifecycle
- Experience working with Atlassian products, specifically Jira Software and Confluence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to innovate
- Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and with teams
Helpful Certifications / Skills:
- Program Management Professional (PMP)
- Relevant security certifications (CISM, CISSP, CISA etc.)
- Familiarity with Okta products
- Background in software development / Product Security
