Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Facilities Manager serves as a leader and support in the Facilities Department to plan and direct the functioning of Facilities Services for the Division. The Assistant Facilities Manager will supervise the facilities services staff, custodial staff and grounds staff in the absence of the Custodial Foreman.
Primary responsibilities include the management and control of the day to day operations of all division facilities services utilizing both in house staff and contracted services.
Duties to commence June 2, 2025
Performance Responsibilities:

Working with the Facilities team, ensures that all schools and other division facilities are properly maintained and provide a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.

Assists the Facilities Manager in preparing the annual operating budget for Operations and Maintenance services.

Assists the Facilities Manager in the preparation of all capital plans dealing with school facilities including the setting all maintenance program priorities.

Supervises and directs contracted capital projects during construction as assigned. Ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with current building codes and Alberta Education guidelines and policies.

Supervises and evaluates all Facilities Services staff.

Assists in the development of guidelines and standards for the maintenance, repair and cleaning of all division-owned buildings and grounds.

Assists in planning for ongoing professional development of all Facilities personnel.

Assists the Facilities Manager and the Custodial Foreman in establishing employee work schedules.

Participates in related committees as assigned (project design, health and safety, etc.)

Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications:

Journeyman certification or other post-secondary training in a related field.

Familiarity with school facilities or similar operations

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Evidence of successful leadership and supervisory experience in a related field

5 years of experience working in trades or facility management position

Vulnerable Sector Check (Current within 6 months)

Driver's license (class 5)
