About the OSC: The OSC is a not-for-profit organization and registered charity with a well-established reputation as a leader in road and school zone safety. We invest any surplus revenue back into providing free road safety education programs that reach elementary students across Canada; pedestrian, cycling and child passenger safety programs \& services; motorcycle training and licensing programs and road safety advocacy and awareness campaigns.
About the Position: The Community Outreach and Recruitment Assistant will be tasked with assisting the Recruiter, HR Coordinator, Director of Programs and Executive Director with sourcing and organizing participation in various community events, with the purpose of raising awareness of and engagement with the OSC, advertising our various programs (i.e., Motorcycle Training Program, CycleSafe, RoadSMARTS4Kids) and attracting qualified candidates to fill vacancies within the Ottawa Safety Council's Crossing Guard Program.
The incumbent will also utilize social media to do the above and provide administrative support to all of OSC's programs as needed.
Employment Terms:

35 hours/week (Mon- Fri). Flexibility is required to meet program needs, including some evenings, nights, and weekends.

Recruitment Specific:

Uses social networking and social media, job boards, and public outreach (e.g. attend job fairs, community associations meetings, etc.) to advertise Crossing Guard opportunities.

Reviews and evaluate applicant qualifications or eligibility for recruiter.

Schedules and conducts interviews of eligible applicants.

Attends/tables at various community events with the purpose of generating interest in the Crossing Guard position.
Outreach \& Engagement Specific:
-
Collecting, compiling and analyzing data on local events and community initiatives for relevance to the OSC's programs, presenting outreach ideas and suggestions to the Director of Programs and ED.

Scheduling OSC's participation in various events and community initiatives.

Assist staff in managing logistics of and attendance to outreach efforts at special events, community fairs, farmers markets and trade shows including informational booths, displays and other related materials.

Use social networking and social media to promote OSC's outreach efforts.
Administrative Duties:

Handling and assisting with document distribution and other administrative projects and responsibilities.

Arranging and attending meetings as required.

Performing basic data entry as required.

Maintaining \& organizing filing systems and contact lists.

Produce and distribute correspondence, memos and letters.

Assist with equipment inventory and maintenance.

Conducting pedestrian counts at Guard locations
