The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).
What is the project?
The Ontario Line ("OL") is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system connecting Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel ("NC") project includes approximately 7 km of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project is divided into two main design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract ("EGS") and (2) the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract ("PTUS"), with supporting Early Works.
What is the Opportunity?
The CADD Operator will create, modify, and manage technical drawings and plans for construction and infrastructure projects. The CAD Operator will collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop accurate 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of construction standards, and the ability to interpret engineering and architectural specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify 2D and 3D technical drawings for architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical designs.
- Collaborate with project team members to ensure drawings meet specifications and standards.
- Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and project specifications.
- Create construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other CAD software.
- Ensure drawings comply with relevant building codes and engineering standards.
- Maintain systematic filing and revision control for all drawings and documents.
- Prepare as-built drawings post-construction for records.
- Coordinate with BIM teams to integrate CAD work into digital workflows.
- Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in drawings.
- Assist in quantity take-offs and material estimates based on drawings.
- Stay updated with new drafting technologies and software enhancements.
Work Conditions:
- Location: Don Mills Area, North York, next to Science Centre.
- Office-based with occasional site visits.
- Full-time position, potential overtime to meet deadlines.
What You'll Bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies):
Required:
- Diploma or Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a CAD Operator or similar role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
- Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D and Revit is highly valued.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Engineering Surveying and survey-related experience.
- Experience with MicroStation or other CAD software.
- Experience with BIM and 3D modeling software.
- Knowledge of GIS and topographic mapping.
- Understanding of building codes and construction materials.
