As a Hardware Reliability \& Test Engineer, you'll play a critical role in validating the performance, durability, and quality of our IoT hardware products. You'll be responsible for designing and executing reliability and test plans, analyzing failures, and driving continuous improvements across our product lines. This is a key role for an engineer passionate about building robust systems that thrive in real-world industrial environments and help reduce global emissions. This in-office position is based at Qube Technologies' Calgary head office.
Responsibilities:

Develop and execute comprehensive reliability and validation test plans (HALT, HASS, environmental stress testing, lifecycle testing, etc.) for hardware products.

Design and perform experiments to predict and improve long-term hardware performance in harsh operating conditions.

Lead hardware test activities across lab and field deployments, including data analysis and reporting.

Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations for hardware issues discovered during validation and in the field.

Define and monitor hardware reliability metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Recommend and drive corrective and preventative actions based on test and field data.

Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and mitigate reliability and test risks early in development.

Help implement and maintain reliability and test best practices, tools, and documentation.
Requirements:

5 years of experience in hardware reliability engineering, hardware test engineering, or a related field.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science) or equivalent practical experience.

Hands-on experience developing and executing reliability and validation testing methodologies.

Strong background in electronic systems, environmental stress testing (e.g., temperature, humidity, vibration, shock), and test automation tools.

Proven ability to analyze failure modes and perform detailed root cause analysis.

Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

Strong teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, cross-functional environment.
Nice to Have:

Experience with low-power IoT hardware, battery-operated embedded systems, and sensor calibration/stability.

Familiarity with gas sensors, sensor dynamics, and sensor degradation.

Exposure to primary industries (e.g., energy, mining, heavy industrial sectors).

Experience collecting and analyzing field reliability data at scale.
