Chemetics Inc. We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Scientist Level I at our Chemetics Burnaby Lab. This full-time on-site position in Burnaby, B.C., Canada reports to the R\&D Laboratory Manager. You will play a key role in developing innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable solutions for industries such as chemical processing, water treatment, carbon capture, sulfur recovery, and non-ferrous metals.
You will conduct laboratory and pilot-scale testing of advanced technologies and chemical processes, contribute to product quality control, and occasionally travel worldwide to support plant commissioning and technical service. Working closely with vendors and team members, you will serve as a technical resource, supporting project safety, reliability, and efficiency. This role offers growth opportunities within a supportive, health, safety, and environmentally focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting laboratory operations, including sample preparation, testing, data analysis, reporting, and maintaining a safe environment. Occasional travel to client sites for technical support, commissioning, or training.
- Supporting daily lab operations, safety audits, and routine maintenance.
- Conducting R\&D projects and process development initiatives.
- Performing quality control tests on incoming materials.
- Maintaining accurate records and inventory.
- Developing and refining testing procedures.
- Setting up small-scale test equipment.
- Preparing technical reports and documentation.
- Managing laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Preparing designs, drawings, and specifications as needed.
- Communicating effectively with vendors and team members.
- Serving as a technical resource, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance standards.
What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Hands-on experience in laboratory or pilot-scale testing environments.
- Experience with laboratory or process equipment and analytical chemistry.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift items up to 30 lbs.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally.
Education -- Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required: Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
For applicants in British Columbia, the salary range is $58,000 to $70,000. Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, and market conditions.
