As a Designer, you will apply and integrate technical detailing and material technologies to develop design solutions into a concise set of construction documents. Using your ability to analyze and understand design intent, you will produce efficient and effective technical design solutions. You will work with the design team to develop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects. Your knowledge of detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies will enable collaboration across disciplines and coordination through all project phases.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop technical designs and edit architectural drawings to deliver solutions that meet quality, timeline, and budget parameters.
- Perform design activities such as programming, code research, material and building systems research, layout planning, and area calculations.
- Evaluate site conditions and conduct site surveys.
- Review project products, services, and shop drawings.
- Process permit response letters and coordinate revisions with engineers and consultants to obtain documentation and permits.
- Coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants, and authorities to address constructability or owner concerns.
Required Skills
- Experience in all project cycle phases.
- Proficiency with architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and others.
- Familiarity with MEP and structural building systems and codes.
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Registration with a professional architectural body is an asset.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
Required Experience
- 7-10 years of project work experience.
- Experience with Public Buildings projects is an asset.
