The Department of Oncology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Prinicpal Investigator.
The overall vision for the program of research is to advance the science of cancer health services research to improve outcomes for cancer patients. This role will be a combination of assistance with research projects, and administrative assistance with research operations.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Assist and support ethics application submission
- Assist and support in the development of study protocols and clinical study reports
- Attend meetings and take meeting minutes
- Conduct literature reviews
- Create figures and tables
- Assist with grant preparation
- Prepare technical documents and reports
- Provide mentoring and direction to others
- Generate PowerPoint presentations on behalf of research team, to be used when presenting to various internal and external stakeholders
- Create social media content using Canva
- Generate various reports as required by research team
- Compile tables, charts, graphs, and summarized statistics for integration in research papers and reports, including materials for presentation and publication
- Collect, consolidate, cross-tabulate and format data from various sources to prepare draft reports
- Assist in collection and tracking of data and provide information to various internal and external stakeholders
- Administrative assistance including invoicing and expense reports in Peoplesoft
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- Research assistant experience preferred, however new grads are welcome to apply
- Ability to complete assigned tasks under own initiative with minimal supervision required
- Knowledge of research methodologies, processes and policies preferred
- Knowledge of research ethics and regulations for granting agencies including maintenance of confidentiality of patient information and medical records required, including experience with IRISS and AHS operational approvals preferred
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, time manage and re-prioritize tasks required
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills required
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, particularly in a team dynamic required
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment required
- Experience with University of Calgary Peoplesoft preferred
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required
- Demonstrated ability for professional report writing required
