UCalgary Continuing Education is currently seeking two Recurring Part-time Facilities and Technology Support Analysts.
This position reports to the Manager, Facilities and Technology. Daily tasks and work assignments will be distributed and supervised by the Facilities Team Lead and IT Support Specialist. The incumbent(s) will support both the downtown campus and/or main campus, working closely with staff in a cross- functional team environment.
The intended hours of work for the recurring part-time positions are Monday to Friday evenings from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m., and Saturdays (partial or full day), but depending on the needs of the campus, these hours may be adjusted at any given time. Overtime may be required, and the incumbent might be expected to be on standby. Hours given will be based on the business needs of the campus, but will generally range from 15-30 hours per week.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Technical Support
- Desktop support for staff/instructors at the downtown campus and the English Language Program at main campus
- Addressing technical issues using tact and diplomacy.
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with faculty, staff and other campus units.
- Supporting instructors and staff for any IT, hardware or classroom issues.
- Responsible for own personal development with technological changes related to the job, ensuring that as technology and software changes, skills are kept up to date.
- Providing analytical support for Facilities and Technology team as needed.
Facility Support
- Ensures the security of the Downtown Campus, and/or Seminar Centre, reviewing and reporting maintenance of the equipment and furnishings and supplies.
- Monitor use and maintenance of teaching equipment, including data projectors, screens, document cameras, instructor computers, etc.
- Maintain and enter classroom schedules within the central room booking system to ensure optimal use of space.
- Opening/closing classrooms, emptying garbage, and other associated tasks at the Seminar Centre.
- Arranging tables, chairs and sliding walls as needed for in class courses and events, ensuring cleanliness of the all event and teaching and learning spaces.
- Assisting the Facilities Team Lead to complete minor facilities projects at the downtown campus and main campus.
- Responding accurately to staff, instructor and student inquiries in a courteous, timely and professional manner.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Commerce or Business Administration with focus on IT, or an equivalent minimum of two years customer service, facilities or IT support experience, with the ability to learn and adapt to a variety of tasks.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills including face-to-face and phone support.
- Ability to translate technical terminology and to be patient when responding to repetitious end user requests.
- Ability to work under pressure and within given timelines.
- Moderate writing skills with ability to write functional documentation.
- Ability to test and troubleshoot new and existing software programs.
- Experience with a Help Desk ticketing system is desirable.
- General Facilities experience (i.e. painting, basic maintenance) is desirable.
- Understanding of and/or experience within an academic environment is an asset.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team member.
